Full T1 (DS1/1.544 Mbps)
Full T1 is a dedicated Internet service at a fixed, high bandwidth level that provides a bi-directional high-speed connection to eXcerta's multi-homed backbone.
Description
eXcerta's Full T1 service provides a 1.544 Mbps connection from the customer's location to eXcerta's multi-homed high-speed Internet backbone. With this service, eXcerta provisions the leased circuit and pre-configures all equipment purchased with the service. The service also includes primary and secondary Domain Name Service (DNS), registration of one domain name, as well as fully qualified static and routable IP addresses as required. eXcerta's Full T1 service will forward SMTP mail to your server. USENET news is available via NNTP. eXcerta monitors the circuit every 5 minutes, and provides technical support 24 hours per day, seven days a week.
Recommended Usage
eXcerta's Full T1 service is suitable for companies that use mission-critical or time-sensitive applications. If your company needs to send frequent emails with large file attachments, transfer extensive video or image files, host a busy Web or FTP site, receive a moderate to full newsfeed, or connect corporate intranets with moderate to high traffic, Full T1 service is recommended. eXcerta's Full T1 service is also suitable for small and mid-sized, downstream ISPs.

- customer requires a compatible T1 CSU/DSU, such as the Kentrox Data-smart Intelligent CSU/DSU or Adtran TSU
- customer requires a router that supports the V.35 interface, such as a Cisco 1601 series
- customer could alternatively use a combined CSU/DSU and router, such as the Netopia 655
- router and CSU/DSU may be purchased or leased from eXcerta
Pricing
There is a monthly eXcerta Internet connectivity charge, and a one-time set-up charge that includes one hour of set-up support and procedural assistance in establishing the customer's site on the Internet. The telephone company's leased line installation, set-up, and monthly line charges are passed through to the customer.
Burstable T1
Cost-effective Choice
Burstable T1 is a flexible, cost-effective, high bandwidth Internet service that guarantees a customer can burst to full T1 bandwidth across eXcerta's network when required, with the added advantage that monthly charges reflect only the actual sustained bandwidth level used by the customer.
Description
Burstable T1 provides a 1.544 Mbps connection from the customer's location to eXcerta's multi-homed high-speed Internet backbone. Customers with bursty applications do not have to compromise between paying for a Full T1 connection when it's only required sporadically, and having traffic slowed with Fractional T1 service. While Burstable T1 service provides the option of full T1 bandwidth at all times, pricing reflects only the actual sustained bandwidth usage level. A customer's sustained usage level during the month is based on statistically measured data flow tiers from 128 Kbps up to 1.544 Mbps bandwidths.

Recommended Usage
Burstable T1 is recommended for organizations whose bandwidth demands vary significantly over time.
Examples include the release of marketing literature; software upgrades; quarterly reports; or periodic multimedia conferences that can dramatically increase the customer organization's bandwidth needs for the duration of the event. This service is also recommended for hosting a web or FTP site, for low-to-moderate volume email, a low-volume USENET feed, retrieving information from the World Wide Web (WWW) using a browser, or file transfers (FTP).

The monthly billing tier is based on the customer's sustained bandwidth usage level. Billable tiers include bandwidth levels from 0-128 Kbps; 128-256 Kbps; 256-384 Kbps; 384-512 Kbps; and over 512 Kbps. The customer's connection is monitored and measured at five-minute intervals, and the level at which 95% of all the monthly samples fall under is determined to be the sustained usage level.
